Our Services
What is the process of using Turnstone Mortgages to secure a mortgage?
We understand that depending on the person, you may want a different level of help than others and so we tailor the experience to each client to suit, typcially everyone will follow the same process which is laid out below:
Step 1 - Fact Find
Time taken:
20-40 minutes
Firstly, we need to know some information about you, this can be from basic information such as your name and date of birth to more complicated matters such as credit history if you have a poor credit history. We will only ask for information that will either eventually be used in a mortgage application or if it may alter who or what we recommend for you.

For us to get this information, you can either book in a phone call or you can go ahead and fill out your details yourself on our website.
Step 2 - Advise and Recommend
Time taken:
1 working day
Once we know you, we can then go away and do our research. The research completed will depend on your circumstances and what it is you want from us. This could be anything from an affordability check or it may even be a mortgage recommendation for a property that you have had an offer accepted on. We report back to you with our findings and email over a copy of our research.
Step 3 - Document Request
Time taken:
1-2 hours
Now we know you and we have recommended a mortgage, we will now need some proof of documents. This will depend on your circumstances, but typically, documents such as proof of ID and address along with your proof of income and bank statements.

Step 4 - Apply
Time taken:
1-4 weeks
Although the application itself is done within 1 working day, the process of going back and forth with the lender until you get the mortgage offer is usually between 1-4 weeks.
Step 5 - Completion
Time taken:
2 weeks-6 months
To get to the point of completion, we will need all of the legal work completed, if this is a remortgage, this can be done in a couple of weeks. If this is a purchase, it may take longer. The legal work required is more comprehensive and so naturually this takes longer and the typical timeframe for a purchase is around 4-6 months on average. Being in a long chain may affect this too. Following completion, we usually receive our fee from the lender the month after you complete.
